Shaoliang Wang, MD (王韶亮)
Director, Plastic Surgery & Aesthetics Medical Center · Vice Chief Physician, Associate Professor, Doctor of Medicine
Plastic surgery · revision · complex repair · referral review
Dr. Shaoliang Wang is Director of the Plastic Surgery & Aesthetics Medical Center at Chongqing West District Hospital and the reviewing clinician for surgical referrals into the service. He previously served as deputy chief of plastic and aesthetic surgery at Xinqiao Hospital, affiliated with Army Medical University, and brings more than two decades of tertiary-hospital surgical experience to his practice.
Within this service he is the person a surgical question is put to, and the judgement of last resort when a plan should not proceed. His referrals work covers revision of failed operations that began anywhere, excision of skin tumours, complex wound repair, and the assessment of lesions and scars referred in from other departments and other hospitals. Twenty years of tertiary-hospital surgery inform every opinion he gives, including the ones that decline to operate.

What makes a referral answerable
A referral is answerable when it states a question, describes what you found rather than only what you concluded, and sends the imaging, histology and photographs the answer depends on. When that material is present, an opinion can often be given without the patient travelling at all — and when it is absent, the honest answer is that the question cannot yet be answered.
